Desert Chicory (Rafinesquia neomexicana) is a member of the sunflower family. It is a wildflower in the open desert of the southwest United States in elevations from 500 – 4500 feet. I found these on the Douglas Spring Trail in the Rincon Mountains east of Tucson, Arizona. They have a long flowering season of February through July.
If you are interested in hiking this trail, it is free for day use and under the jurisdiction of Saguaro National Park. Trailhead starts at the very east end of Speedway Blvd.
