I’m proud of the vast majority of my fellow citizens who have united their hearts and minds to grieve over the senseless shootings of just three days ago.
Tomorrow was supposed to be the first day of classes for the spring semester at the University of Arizona, but that will be delayed until Thursday. Instead, McKale Stadium on campus, which is normally a venue for fun and celebration (basketball and volleyball games, concerts, graduation ceremonies) will be the site of a city-wide memorial service for the six persons killed. In attendance, among others, will be President and Mrs. Obama.
Representative Gabrielle Giffords continues to make encouraging progress, but is still in critical condition after sustaining a gun shot to the head.
