This is Kief Joshua Manning. Kief is a wonderful young man my friend and I met when we stopped in for a wine tasting at his Italian Gothic vineyard in Elgin, Az over the weekend. Open seven days a week from 11 am to 5 pm, this is a must-visit in “winery row” in Elgin, just thirty-five minutes south of Tucson off I-83.
Kief-Joshua Vineyards specializes in dry, full-bodied wines crafted by hand, virtually free of pesticides and herbicides and barrel aged. They use the holistic farming approach developed by Austrian scientist and pholosopher Rudolf Steiner in the 1920’s of an organic, closed, self-contained ecosystem.
The passion and attention Kief brings to his wine making is evident in the end product of his wonderful red and white wines. He started making wine while going to ASU. Kief holds an undergraduate degree in Wine Technology and Marketing and a graduate degree in viticulture from the University of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.
